My three-year-old informed me that all of the puzzles we had were too easy for her and she needed more of a challenge. Well, I hadn't really given this any thought, but I respect her point of view so I stopped offering her the chunky puzzles and got out some interlocking ones. She was delighted! She immediately started putting together this boy, or that girl, etc. and had sections of puzzle put together laying all around her. I tried to suggest that she start with the edge pieces and then when finished fill in the middle pieces (this is how I was taught), but she made it clear that wasn't for her and continued on.
I know the lighting in this picture is not ideal but for some reason I was struck with a desire to immortalize this moment. She is getting so grown-up and it always surprises me.
